Companionship, inside and outside?

Question
I have had my first rabbit for about 3 months now. He is a mini rex. He lives inside right now, but after the winter I wanted to make him an outside home so he has more room. Is it safe for mini rex's to live outside, because they have sich fine hair. Also, when would be the best tiem to put him outside. Also, wif/when he is outside, I was going to get him a companion. I want to get another male because he is not neutered, I was wondering if they would get teritorial and not like eachother? Thanks for answering my questions.

Answer
Hi,
You own one of my favorite breeds of rabbits. I keep all my bunnies outdoors year round. They are very well adapted to survive in the cooler winter weather, and actually prefer it over the heat. Mini Rex should have a very dense coat of really soft hair. This actually helps them with the extreme temperatures. I would put him outdoors though with the warming of the weather since he is used to the warmth of being indoors now. I would say around april when it gets warmer at night.
As for his companion: Males tend to fight when caged with other males. Females with males can result in unwanted babies if neither are spayed/neutered. If you were to get him a compainion, i would make two separate cages that can be placed beside each other, so he can sniff and "talk" to them, but not fight or breed them. Age is also a big thing for this, if you have a very young male, and get another young male, you may be able to keep them together until they become sexually mature. I am more comfortable keeping 2 females together. Hope this helps
