male rabbit parts

my male rabbit(recently acquired) is not able to be played with by me  or my children because he always has poop by his penis.  i clean him up but it is back the next day.  I've tried different cages with little step areas for him to go up on and nothing works.  the female is fine but he is dirty underneath.  not just smashed poop but round rabbit turds also.  most of them drop through the floor like they are supposed to but enough stay inside his private areas that he is dirty and stinky.  otherwise he is healthy and amusing. please help, i want to hold him and let him out of his cage more like the girl bunny.

The most common causes are incorrect diet:

and undiagnose dental problems causing pain/stress:

though there are other possibilities.

Please get both buns to the vet (they should be spayed/neuterd, too, for their own health and longevity) for a full check up to address the cecal dysbiosis reason.  You can find a good rabbit vet here:
