my rabbit is about 8 years old and he has a growth on his neck it kinda looks like a tumor its hard and red i just noticed it today (3-1-08) i didn't notice it a week ago i need to take him to the vet but there isn't one around me i don't know what to do also I'm scared that it might be an infection his litter box is broke on the one side and he likes to rub his neck on it so i don't know if he cut it and it got infected what do you think it is and what should i do please help i love him with all my heart and i cant stand the thought of losing him please help

Well, unfortunately, there probably isn't much you can do yourself to treat it.  Since it came up so fast, it could be an abscess created from an infection.  It's not uncommon in older rabbits to get abscesses.

But only a vet can make the proper diagnosis and give you the medicine you need.  It might be a simple matter of some treatment with antibiotics after possible lancing the abscess.  But the treatment  might vary.
