Question
HI! Though I have read a lto about house bunnys in preparation for getting a rabbit, I still haven't read anything about when to tell if one is hot or cold. He likes to scrunch up in a ball!

Answer
Hi,

if he's on nice pet bedding like synthetic sheepskin or nice medical pet bedding (palace pet bedding) they will stay nice and comfortable.  Generally as indoor house rabbits they should be kept in a range no lower than 65 degrees (winter) or 75 degrees (in summer) and out of direct sunlight.  In general they tolerate cooler temps better than warmer temps.

They do not sweat like you or dogs.  They have no sweat glands to cool down.  Their ears are their primary cooling system (radiators, heat exchangers). blood flows through larger arteries in the ear and cools down.

Scrunching up in a ball is just how your guy likes to rest/sleep.  Nothing really to do with hot or cold.  As he gets bigger he will not be able to be such a ball shape.
