Who does the actual weaning?

Question
My less than 8 weeks old kits stopped having mother's milk.  They used to scramble to get to a free tit.  Now they could care less. They scramble to fresh greens now.

Do the kits loose interest on their own or is it the mother who decides the kits are too big to feed?

Answer
Dear Tom,

It can be a combination.  When mama gets tired of feeding the babies, she will run from them.  And sometimes, her milk will just dry up.  If that happens, it takes only a few incidents of fruitless suckling before the babies realize the bar is closed for good. :)
