mini rex hair change

I have a 5 month old min rex. He is tortoise broken color. It looks like he is losing fur right by his ears. He is not bald the fur that is coming in is dark like his feet. The hair that is there is just as soft as all the rest, it just looks like he is losing a top coat right by his ears. He is eating and drinking normally. What is going on? Is there anything wrong with him? Is he just growing into his coat?

Dear Kathleen,

It sounds as if your bunny is going through a normal shed cycle and growing in his new seasonal coat.  As long as there's no baldness or flaky skin, I would not worry.
