Does the male rabbit know the female rabbit is pregnaunt?

Question
QUESTION: I have 2 rabbits, a male and female. I am not sure on how old they are but I'm pretty sure they are young. The female was nice at first, now she's growling, biting, and being aggressive. I keep feeling her stomach and sorta feel 2 big sacks but I can't really tell if they are sacks. I read on the signs for when they are pregnant, and I think she is. Now the male, when they are together, he licks her and licks behind her/under her. Could he know if she is pregnant?
ANSWER: Hi Kimberly

Yes he could know.  I do have a few concerns here.  First the more you palpate the stomach the more chance you have of damaging the babies.  Why do you have an unfixed male and female together?  Are you aware that he is going to have to be separated from her if she is pregnant?  Did you know that if she has her babies in the middle of the night and you aren't there to take him away that she could become pregnant again right after she has her litter?  Doe's are most fertile right after delivery.  I don't mean to lecture but I am just curious as to why they are together.

I have an article I would like you to read.  It will help you understand my view point.

I certainly don't mean to be condescending or rude but I just want you to understand the consequences.  I don't know how old you are or if you have children but could you imagine going through a whole pregnancy only to be told the day after you deliver that you are pregnant again?  I certainly couldn't.. in fact I am pretty sure I would stab the doctor in the eye with his pen and tell him he is a liar.

Just some points to ponder.

Good luck with the new babies.

QUESTION: Hey Pam, um thank you so much for the help. Um, I am 18 Ayers old. And i know you don't mean to like be rude or whatever, I understand and usually when an animal is pregnant you can somewhat feel the sacks. But now, i will like not touch them lol. Well, one reason we don't have the male nurtured is because it's alot of money like $250 i think and my family is having fiancial problems. Now, when they were together we let them do fourplay but everytime he went behind her we stopped him. Yea, i read that online they can get pregnant again. Do they make noises while giving birth? And now you're scaring me of the whole-middle-of-the-night thing lol.

Answer
Sometimes they make noises while giving birth but its more of a panting.  If it is an easy pregnancy it is usually over pretty fast.

Since you guys can't afford to get him neutered its best not to let them together.  It only takes one second.  Believe me they can get it done quick.  Its going to be a lot cheaper to buy another cage for him than to keep having to find homes and caring for more babies.

Good luck

Pam
