Question
I recently rescued 2 baby cottontails because the mother was hit on are road. I noticed a yesterday that one is loosing fur and you can feel all bones in the body and the skin has little red dots on it, the other rabbit has its fur and you cant feel any bones. What should i do with the other baby??

Answer
Hi April

However noble and sweet it was of you to rescue the babies they really need to be turned over to a wildlife rehabilitator.  They are trained to deal with illnesses and proper feeding etc.  The baby is probably starving to death and it could very well have an illness that could be contagious even to YOU!!!  Please go to the following site and find a wildlife rehabilitation center near you.

I do not treat wild rabbits.  When they are brought in they are immediately sent to a wildlife rehabilitation center.  At the very least find one and give them a call and ask for advice.

Good luck
