Question
My Rabbit, Resses, has flakes of skin and sores in his ears. Is this mites or just dry ears? Also, can u recomend something i should try to help with his ears! I wanted to know if i should clip his nails! He's about 2 years old and I've never clipped them but they are getting VERY sharp!! Thank you SO much, Jennifer!

Answer
Dear Jennifer,

I'd recommend that you take Resses to a good rabbit vet:

www.rabbit.org/vets

who can not only treat the ear mites (that's what it sounds like) with Revolution/Stronghold (selamectin), but also show you how to clip his nails.  Overlong nails are dangerous, as they can catch on things and result in a dislocated toe or even worse.  So this really should be done.

You can read more about ear mites and other types of skin and fur problems, here, as well as their safe (and not safe!) treatment here:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/furloss.html

Hope that helps!
