QuestionHi - my 5 month old rabbit has snuffles & was given Baytril for 3 weeks before I got her. She is not currently on antibiotics but her caecal droppings are excessive. I am giving her a small bowl of pellets in the morning & hay for the rest of the day. Veggies currently make the problem worse. Have you any suggestions as to how to solve this ?
AnswerDear Margaret,
Sometimes a rabbit getting a diet too rich in nutrients will leave her cecals. Check her diet here:

I doubt that the Baytril or upper respiratory infection has anything to do with this.
One odd question: What color is she? If she is white with dark eyes (and possibly dark pigmented spots), she may have a condition we call "cowpoop syndrome," and that's a whole different story. If her cecals are large, marshmallowy, and not well-formed like little grape clusters, then please read:
www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html
and write to me if they are large and *rubbery*, but not mushy. I will help with information on cowpoop syndrome.
You can find a good rabbit vet to help you here:

Hope that helps.
