Question
Hello:
Me and my fiance just adopted a female rex bunny, was wondering if you had any tips on litterbox training, we want the bunny to be able to roam around the house instead of being in a cage. Also, what age do females start to go into heat. And dont they go into heat in the spring? Also do they have to use a water bottle or can they drink from a bowl. shes seems to be drinking fine from a bowl at the moment. Can they eat like fruit and carrots as treats? whats average litter size? lifespan? thanks so much for taking the time to help me.

Answer
Hi,

For litter box training I would reccomend first trying to keep the bunny in a limeted area of space with a large litter box in it.  Rabbits are very clean amimals so  they will most likely use the litterbox.  Also rabbits do not nesseciarly go into heat but they do have a pont in tie where hey are ready to breed.  At this time your rabbit will seem more agressive and it's genitals will be a red color.  For the water I would eccomend a water bottle but a dish would work almost as well.  Rex bunnies live for normally about nine years and the average litter is about 5or 6 bunnies.  I hope I could help!
