Question
QUESTION: hi kareen,
im very new with bunnies and this bunny i got from a friend so i dnt knw the exact age of her. ive read articles on bunnies adn as im living in maldives here hay is not available but i provide her fresh grass evey day. and refering to articles she is trained to poop and pee in to a tray. she eats all green (lettuce not ice burg just normal kan kun leaf carrots tomatoes and etc and i give her treats like apple and etc) from the very beginin i dnt see her drinking so much water. she was so active nad likes to play with me now she just lays beside me all the time.ive yesterday read that bunnies get gastitice and the sad thing is here we dnt haev any vet for animals.so ive to treat her at home. ive given her papaya yest and tried giving water from syring. and rubbed her tummy and yes her poopy was smaller these past few days and she doesnt pass urin that much also. wat should i do i so scared that she may die.

ANSWER: Ok I will try to help but w/o having a good vet for her I don't know how much help I can be but lets see what we can do. Is she eating a pelleted food? If not she needs one domestic rabbits cant live on just veggies they need them dont get me wrong but they need the supplements from pellets they only need 1/3 cup per 2-5 lbs of body weight. If you get these and she wont eat them you need to force feed them. put some in water till soft and make them like a soup take a syringe and for feed her a few times a day also do the same with water. You can also try plain yogurt with active bacteria in a syringe. The things we use ere in the states are called critical care from oxbow and probiotic waters but I dont know how you can get those so the other ideas we will have to try. I hope this helps if you need anything else plz let me know

Answer
Hi Hun,

Make sure when you are force feeding you keep her head elevated at all times and make sure its small amounts that she can handle if you search and I can as well and let you know there are some breeders that carry the stuff but its usually very hard to get unless from a vet whats your email so I can do some research and email you once again where are you from? Oh ya make sure your pellets are coming from a feed store or a good pet store not a supermarket there is to be nothing but pellets in it no colored artificial crap keep a eye on the nose as long as its clear and not milky white or yellow its ok for now she is stressed but stress can cause snuffles my email is aquaice79@gmail.com
