Questionhi dana - (system wouldn't let me attach a follow-up)
thank your for your prompt response.
your opinion is worth a great deal, that is why i asked. but, i do apologize for putting you on the spot.
my instinct is the same, to wait; i believed that we had gotten thru the worst, at least for a while. but the 'wheezing' i felt threw me, until then, i was ok.
i am a little concerned that you mentioned pain killers. i hadn't felt that she was in pain particularly. aside from the obvious, do her symptons indicate something else to you?
thanks, christie
AnswerDear Christie,
If she had mammary cancer, there is a chance it has metastasized to the lungs, which could be responsible for her fast breathing. If there is a tumor reducing her lung capacity, she'll have to breathe more rapidly.
Rabbits are very stoic about pain, and she may not be in a LOT of pain, but if she has a tumor in her chest, there could be pain. A chest radiograph might be in order, if your vet can do it without anesthesia (which would be a big risk for her now, from the sound of it). That might tell yo more about what's going on inside, and how likely it is to be causing her pain.
I hope this helps. I know this is a very hard time, and I'm sending lots of healing vibes.
Dana
