rabbits have disappeared int tunnel

Question
i have two female rabbits that are outside in an enclosed space where they can dig tunnels.  i leave them outside in the day and bring them into the house at night.  today it rained quite a bit and when  i went to bring them in i could not find them.  can rabbits hide in the tunnels and not come out because of rain and dark?

Hi Gita,

yes they could be down in the tunnels, but it is also possible that they dug a tunnel with an exit somewhere else and are outside of your enclosed space.  When you build outside areas for rabbits, you need to sink the fencing down at least 12 inches.  It should be regular chain-link fencing, not chicken wire.
