Chloe chews on human flesh!

Question
I just got a lionhead, 8 months old and she is to be spayed in  one week. She has taken to chewing on me and anyone who comes around her. It takes her a while but once you get to petting her she will chew on your clothes and eventually go for your skin. She sniffs and then chews like she's going to be sweet but then bites. Every time I "Eek!" and say "No, Chloe!" but she still does it. I have been working with her for only a week I suppose. What more can I do? Will she stop this when she's spayed?
Thanks,
Sarah

Answer
Hi Sarah,

I believe that this behavior will be reduced after she is spayed, but it will take 4-5 weeks for her hormones to stabilize at the new lower level.  You should see some improvements by week 2.

This is mostly a grooming thing, they go after wrinkles in the clothes and are trying to bite the matted area out.  They don;t understand there's skin underneath.  Some of it is hormonal and she may be reacting to your pheromones.  It does not sound like she's doing this to be aggressive, I believe she's jsut grooming her friend.

I have one rabbit who goes after my clothes and then may nip into the clothes and may get me. I just shift and fidget a bit and she generally stops grooming then.  Or I try to pet her (which she does not usually want right then) and she hops away.
