Bunny makes noises when moves

Question
My bunny I just noticed today is making noises when she hops. It sounds like
something to the extent of you getting squeezed and air leaving a stuffy nose.
Almost like a hum/wheeze. I am very worried about her. Her friend bunny died
suddenly two weeks ago and I am worried she might be sick too. Do you know
what it possibly could be and what I could do???

Answer
Dear Kristina,

It could be a respiratory infection, and it would be wise to get her to a good rabbit vet:

who can listen to her lungs, check her teeth, and prescribe any treatments necessary to clear things up.   The sooner the better, as this condition can worsen quickly.

It's possible that losing her bunny mate caused enough stress to trigger this illness.  Once she's well again, you might consider contacting your local rabbit rescuer:

and set up some "blind dates" so she can pick a neutered friend to keep her company and help heal her broken heart.

I hope this helps.
