QuestionI went to clean out my rabbits cage this morning and noticed a kit lying in the middle of her house. She must have had it sometime early this morning.
The mom hadn't made a nest or anything for it, so its arm was falling through the mesh bottom of the cage so I moved it, when I picked it up I noticed its back foot had been bitten or crushed. And was cold so I wrapped it in a blanket and warmed it up. I put the baby back in the cage with the mom in the blanket and some straw. But I am not sure what I should do because of the back foot. Would it be better to it die cause of the foot or can I take it to the vet and it could live life without a back paw?
Thankyou
AnswerDear Jennifer,
Many rabbits live perfectly happy as a "tripod," and loss of a limb--especially in a baby who never has known otherwise--is not a death sentence. The mother probably overgroomed the baby in her stress at having him.
Please read this for emergency instructions:

and

in case mama doesn't feed the baby.
You can find a good rabbit vet here:

to spay mama to prevent this from happening again. Please also see:

Hope this helps.
