HELP PLEASE!!!! my rabbit is really sick and I cant wait for 3 days cause I dont think she will make it another 3 days she hasnt ate in 2 dayss... HELP ASAP

Answer
Hi Toshia....you are very correct in being concerned about why your rabbit isn't eating.  The first thing is to determine why she isn't eating.  Pain is one of the most common reasons that rabbits stop eating.  This could be some type of infection, could be teeth or anything.  When a rabbit stops eating, the GI system goes into "stasis"....it is basically constipation.  This is very serious in a hind gut fermenter type digestive system.  As the ingesta (which is a mix of undigested food, mucous, fur and anything else left in the GI) slows, it starts to dehydrate the gut.  That starts a cascade of bad things.  Stasis is not a primary issue...it is always secondary to something else.

So....I would like to know exactly what you feed her.  Brand names, amounts....everything.  Improper diet can cause stasis.  Include breed, weight and age.

I would suggest getting to a vet if at all possible.  The root cause of this concern needs to be identified and corrected.  My first response to something like this is usually hydration....by sub-q or IV most of the time.  If you can't get to a vet and don't have the ability to do fluid infusions....see if she will drink Pedialyte.  If not, force feed her Pedialtye.  This might be challenging to be careful not to allow her to kick and injure her back or allow her to aspirate (choke on) any fluids.  Offer her a few leaves of a favorite green....dandelions and romaine lettuce are favorites around here.  Greens are mostly water.  Allow her to run as much as possible.  Just like a foundering horse, moving around will sometimes stimulate the gut to move.

Let me know her complete diet and bio info as soon as possible.  But if there is any way you can get to an exotics vet tonight, I would highly suggest it.
