Hi, I have a female lionhead that is around 8 weeks old and is not eating her pellets. I have purchased two different types of pellets (Ecxcursion and Kaytee) and she still does not like them. She only eats her Timothy Hay.
I am worried that she is not getting the nutrients she needs. Do you recommend a certain type of pellet that she will like? or is eating only the hay okay? When should she be eating vegetables?

Hi, just thought of something else to think about.  Sometimes rabbits won't eat something because there's a problem with it.  Old (not fresh), or moldy, or something else they don't like.  They can smell problems with food when we don't.  Since you bought two bags and did 100% switches right away, it's doubtful both bags were bad.  Given how fast you switched them I'd say that isn't the problem this time.

rabbits get used to a certain taste.  Eventually she will get used to whatever brand you buy, but initially they will have to learn to like it.  If you ever need to change brands you need to do it gradually, not all at once.  It takes about a month to switch over to a new brand.  First week you need to be 75% current pellets, 25% new, then next week 50/50, then the third week 25 old/75 new, then last week 10/90, and the following week 100% of the new brand.

hay is far more important for rabbits than pellets.  As far as pellets go, Oxbow pellets are pretty much liked very much by rabbits.  

But she is not suffering any nutritional deficiency not eating pellets.  Rabbits are designed to maximize the most energy and nutrients out of lowe energy foods like hay.  Too much pellets and they will get fat.  They will never get fat just eating timothy hay or orchard grass hay.
