Injure toe

Question
My rabbit has been licking her left hind feet alot lately and yesterday I decided to check that feet . I first saw that her the inner side of her second toe was dark pink and upon closer inspection I saw a tiny scab that was orangey red in color. The other side of her toe (the balloony-pulpy side) is normal , and her nail looks fine and doesn't seem broken.
About five days ago, I trimmed her nails and I can recall her struggling when I was trimming that nail and she pulled away. I guess this could cause a broken toe /fracture or that scab. She is however running normally , not favoring that foot, no signs of pain when I touch it but licking it alot.
I have a vets appointment in two weeks time anyway and I'm not sure if I should take her in now, could this be treated at home? My gut feeling tells me that it is caused by the scab but is the dark coloration and itch a concern? I've since put antiseptic on her toe and the scab is no longer visible and looks like it's healing up but the surrounding skin is still dark pink.
I think povidone iodine would be better right? Do I get this from a pharmacy and dilute this with water?

Answer
Dear Jane,

Povidone iodine won't hurt.  But the dark color is possibly a concern if it's a hematoma (fancy name for "bruise").  That could mean the toe is broken, and could be a nidus for infection.

Keep a close eye on it for any sign of swelling of the toe, and if she acts unusual, please read this immediately:

If you can get her in to see the vet sooner than two weeks, that would be good, in case the vet thinks she might need antibiotics to prevent infection in a broken toe.  You should be able to find a rabbit vet via the International listings here:

Or through the House Rabbit Society of Singapore:

I hope she'll be all fine soon.
