Unhealthy Rabbit

Question
Hello! Sorry this is going to be long- I have a little black rex rabbit, I adopted him when he was three, he's almost four now. When I first got him he was pulling his fur out on his chest and was quite bald there, as well as had a runny eye and nose. I took him to the vet and he was put on antibiotics. He never eats timothy hay, or pellets. He only wants crunchy bits (vitamins or dried vegetables) i tried the whole "give him nothing but hay for a few days" thing and he starved himself until I caved and gave him the food he wanted (he had lost .6 pounds and he was only 2.6 to start off with so i didn't want to risk it). He will occasionally eat fresh carrots and lettuce.. but not often. I know he had a mollar spur and had to have it shaved down (i believe this is what the previous owner said), but last i took him to the vet she looked at this teeth and saw nothign to impact his eating. He has now sprained his back right foot so he's on more meds and antibiotics because his right eye started to get goopy again. He also drools a lot and his coat isn't the prettiest coat in the world, even after we bathe him. One of the vets I recently went to for his foot (emergency clinic) looked at him and said he looks like an unhealthy rabbit, "one of those rabbits who will always be unhealthy and sickly, it's just the way they are" was kind of how she said it. I don't know if he was weened to early or what to do, because I want him to be healthy and live a long life. I have another rabbit who never cost me a dollar vet wise, and already this one has cost me around 500 I've had him not even for a year yet. Have you ever experienced or seen anything like this with your rex's or other rabbits? Or heard of anything like this? Do you have any suggestions? Maybe if his diet improved his quality of life would? In which case what do i do? I considered getting some watered down banana flavoring (he's crazy for bananas) and lightly spritzing his hay and pellets so he can get the smell and a bit of the taste for what he loves coupled with food he dislikes, but i'm unsure of whether to do it or not. I know it's not the best idea in the world, but he's already eating a load of junk (won't eat tomothy pellets or alfalfa pellets). Suggestions? I really love him and would like him to stay with me for a number of years yet.. and hopefully relatively less expensive then he currently is.

Answer
hi jennifer its not something i have come across before but i would just give him a dry rabbit mix to eat and maybe a bit of carrot-bananas are a no no as they can cause the runs and give bad stomachs.at first he may reject a drymix but he will eat it when he gets hungry.
all my rabbits get is one cupful of pellets a day and plenty of water to drink -this way there weight is ok and they are quite fit.
