Holland lop question

Question
Hello,
My holland lop is a 7 or 8 month old male. He is such a good bunny and most of the time does not go to the bathhroom anywhere else but in his or near his cage. However, sometimes he will jump on my bed and just go nuts, pooping and peeing everywhere. I read somewhere to spray him with a spray bottle to get him off, which worked but he got so scared he peed even more and it does not seem to deter him from going up there again. Also, he has been circling me which I read is a sign of mating and am wondering if it is essential to get him neutered? Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Ashley,

it sounds like your boy has hit sexual maturity.  It is time to look for a good rabbit vet and get him neutered.  It will cut down on his sexual frustration, his hormonal behavior (marking the bed) and the litterpan habits will improve again.

Go to   www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

to find a House Rabbit Society recommended vet near you.  It will make his life better by not being controlled by hormones, and yours.  He will still probably circle you (just less and not spraying you) after neutering as they also do this around their friends.  With rabbits sex and love are not really separate so the signs they use to show friendship are the same.
