Question
I have a Holland Lop Hes about a year, about 2 weeks ago he stopped eating his regular food and he got really skinny he eats timothy hay parsley and carrots but he wont eat his regular oatmeal or pellets but he eats his hay and he is getting some weight back but he wont touch his regular food he drinks water but I wondering If it could be a tummy ache Or something else....Thank You

Answer
Dear Mary,

Please read this immediately:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/sickbun.html

and get your bunny to an experienced rabbit vet for full evaluation:

www.rabbit.org/vets

Sudden weight loss can be from dehydration, or any number of things.  Ask the vet about checking for molar spurs, and read this:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/dental.html

Also ask about having bloodwork done to check kidney and liver function.  I cannot tell you what's wrong without seeing your bunny, but a good rabbit vet can.  Please get him there as soon as possible.
