bunny has clear vaginal discharge

Question
hi dana,
i have a female rabbit that is of 2 years old and not spayed. Last night, when i was giving my rabbit a once over check and cleaning her rear she started producing some clear discharge coming from her virgina, the discharge was very little though. And i could see her virgina moving/pulsating..Is this because she is in season/horny & because i was cleaning her butt area? i've check a number of times again today and there is no discharge and she's acting completely normal, eating, pooping and peeing well.
Is this normal? i've read online that virgina discharge is highly uncommon): and i'm really worried she might have an infection or uterus cancer because she is not spayed.
another incident happened last year too,she also produced a clear discharge when she humped my other rabbit and left some of it on the other rabbit's back end. it was sticky, thick but clear.
is this natural?
sorry for the trouble, i know i should be going to the vet or calling my vet, but my vet isn't in today. My rabbit also gets very stressed when i take her to the vet and thus i want to make sure its something unnatural before i do.
Also, i do know i should spay my rabbit but im afraid of the after effects, and i'll probably spay her in the next few months when i'm having my school holiday so i can take care of her.
sorry i'm rambling, but is a slight clear discharge normal or should i be very worried?

Answer
Dear Abigail,

The clear secretions could be mucous, and not a concern.  These could be produced because your bunny is sexually aroused.  But you are correct that it is time to have her spayed, since it is *possible* that the discharge is a precursor to something more worrisome:  blood.  Blood would certainly not be normal, and would hint that there could be cancer or pre-cancer growing in the uterus.

Please find a rabbit vet here:

to get her there for a checkup.  It's stressful, but important to know if all is well.  The vet can assess her general health and schedule the spay for when you are on holiday.

I hope this helps.
