QuestionWe have 2 female rabbits and one boy. one of our females gave birth today but we don't know which one. Can we leave both females in the same cage? We removed the male right away. Also neither one of the females have claimed the infant bunny, what should we expect?
AnswerDear Julie,
If neither female is taking care of the baby, please see:
www.bio.miami.edu/hare/orphan.html
It is possible that the male has already impregnated the female again, and both might be pregnant. So please read this for the proper preparations:
www.bio.miami.edu/hare/surpriselitter.html
More importantly, it's time to have the male neutered NOW so he can safely be reintroduced (carefully!) to his friends. The females should be spayed for their health and longevity. All is explained here:
www.rabbit.org/health/spay.html and here: www.bio.miami.edu/hare/breeding.html
You can find an experienced rabbit vet here:

I hope this helps.
