My rabbit will pee and just sit in it

Question
My parents are kind of fed up with my rabbit chewing base boards and cabinet doors, she is kept in a fenced area with a cage, there are 2 liter boxes.  She use to be good about using the litter box, but over the past year will urinate or defecates and just sit there it the 'mess'.  This is angering my parents even more since she requires to be cleaned (bathed) more often.  Her urine has turn very smelly the past week and her sitting in it is exasperating the situation with mom and dad.

She is between 5 and 6 years old.  Believe she is a french lop, black fur..  The store we purchased her from said she was neutered which was confirmed by a vet that works with rabbits.

Answer
Dear Olivia,

If your bunny is truly spayed, then it is still possible that she is having urinary tract problems such as sludge, kidney stones, or a urinary tract infection.  Any of these is painful, and requires veterinary treatment. Please read:

and find a rabbit-savvy vet here:

who can diagnose the problem and prescribe proper treatment.  Your parents may be upset by the smell and mess, but it is your bunny who is likely suffering most of all.  :(

I hope this helps.
