Caring for 4 baby rabbits

Question
Dear Brenda,

my rabbit has recently given birth to 4 baby rabbits. They are now 3 weeks old and all appear fit and healthy. I have 2 questions,

1. Should I be doing anything other than keeping everything clean and letting the mother do her thing with regards to feeding etc? Also what age should they be neutered/spayed?

2. Also, 1 of the 4 rabbits is a poor little sod, he has 1 rear leg missing and 1 eye missing. He seems OK and it coping well but is noticeably smaller and a little "scruffier" than the others. Is there anything I can do to help the little fella along?

Many kind regards

Answer
The mother must be doing her job well and you are best to let her continue to do so on her own.

I do not spay or neuter for several reasons, so I can't answer that question, but I can refer you to a great website --- www.rabbit.org ---  this is ran by the House Rabbit Society Rescue somthing or other.  There is a ton of great information here.

Sorry to hear about the other little guy.  Also sorry to say that it probably will not make it to adulthood.  You know "Survival of the fittest".  If he makes it to 4 weeks and is eating/drinking water well on his own you can wean him from the mother and put him in a cage on his own.  Younger than 4 weeks is too young to wean and hand raising is nearly impossible.  Being on his own means he won't have to fight for food and water and may get stronger.
