overeating

I have a PBP that is 2 years old. She knocked over a table and got into a bag of cat food. She ate quite a bit. Should I be concerned?

Answer
One "pig out" session in a bag of cat food can give a pig indigestion, but should not cause any permanent damage. Cat food is high in protein and salt. Both of these increase the body's need for water, so make sure she has plenty to drink. She may feel really stuffed and not want to drink, so it's ok to put a bit of juice in her water to encourage her to drink more.

Now that she's tasted cat food and liked it, she will want more and probably try hard to get the cat food bag again, so you might want to keep the cat food in a sealed plastic tub.
