Pot belly pig dental problem?

Hi,
I just recently got a 5 month old pot belly pig from a gal that  couldnt keep her any longer due to her two small children. When I brought her home, I did a normal health check. As i do with my goats, dogs, horses, rabbits, cats and now pigs. (farm pigs and pot belly). She was outwordly healthy, except she has a dead tooth in the front, bottom jaw. The nub that I can see, looks dead and rotten. Now, I usually have farm pigs, not pets, so I do not know when they loose teeth... I want to know if I should take her to my vet, or if she is alright! It doesn't seem to bother her, she eats, drinks, plays... but I know with humans and most animals, dental problems can lead to health problems. Let me know if I should worry about my little piggie! Thank you!

Pigs have three sets of teeth. The final teeth don't erupt until about age 2-1/2 years. Given piggy's young age, my guess is this is most likely one of the baby teeth.

All pigs have canine "teeth" that grow throughout the pigs life. In males, these teeth turn into tusks.  As long as the tooth in question is not one of these teeth, then there is probably not a need for worry.
