Question
I have a few questions for you.  I currently own 2 pot belly pigs.  My female will be 2 years old next month and I am concerned about her weight.  I got her when she was 10 weeks old and she has never been very energetic.  I got my second one with hopes that it may encourage her to get up and play or something.  She is extremely overweight and I don't know how to help her lose it.  I feed the Mazuri brand food and I put her on the senior diet as there is less fat contents, etc.  I don't give her much fruits as there is a lot of sugar in some, and if I give her treats it's a mixed salad.  How do I get her to exercise more to lose weight?  It's to the point where it is rare that you see her eyes.  I wipe them down every night with a wet cloth just to make sure she isn't getting any infections.  I can't even get her to go outside in the summer.  My male is complete opposite.  He is very energetic and a decent size for his age.  He burns off what he eats.  I know her hooves play a small part in her not getting around much.  My male walks on his tippy toes and I haven't had to trim his yet.  They stay nice and short.  But she steps on the back of her feet so there is no friction to wear them down on their own.  But she is a mule and won't let me clip them.  I can play with her feet, etc.  But as soon as I get the clippers, she's history.  I almost had the vet out her out so he could do them but he has very little experience and I don't want her to get hurt.  They are curling in but I can only get a small clip off them when she is sleeping.  Someone suggested taking her to the lady who does the horse hooves, but I don't know.  What should I do?

Answer
Hello,
I recommend that you take your pigs off of what you are feeding them and purchase Dandie Adult Chow.
It is balanced and will help maintain the proper weight on your pig.
I also recommend the Infinity Plus Multi Vits and Minerals to complete her nutritional needs.
As far as her feet...you should probably call a vet who is knowledgeable about Pot Bellied Pigs.  She will probably need to be tranquilized to do a good job.  Make sure your vet has experience with this issue.
You can go to royaldandie.com.  They have a product page where you can order the feed and Vitamins.
Once your pig looses some weight she will move around more she will also wear off her hoofs faster.
