QuestionHi!
I was wondering what I would need to breed in order to get a BEW. I've heard these are really rare, but they look so adorable! I'd love to have one. Do you know what I would need to cross? I've searched online and read about many different ways, but I don't know which to believe.
Thanks in advance!
Leah
AnswerThere are several different ways to get a BEW. They ALL take a lot of work.
A BEW can be a black eyed siamese or black eyed himalayan with faded points. To achieve this, you need to breed back to a line with faint/pale/non-quality points and eventually eliminate the color points, leaving a white rat with black eyes. This can take as 25 litters, or as few as 3 -- it depends on the stock you start from.
A BEW can also be a black eyed dalmatian line; breeding the least amount of color back to the least amount of color. I achieved my BEWs in 6 breedings.
A BEW rarely pops up in hooded and berk lines; mostly because its SO much color to 'breed out'.
