Boils

QUESTION: i have herd that if you have a girl rat that if you don't let her mate they get boils. is this true and how do you get rid of them? i have a female rat and she has these huge "boils"( just 2 really big ones) on her and she has never mated before.

ANSWER: That is totally untrue.  Tell me about these boils....do they have pus in them?  


Are you perhaps talking about tumors, such as mammary tumors? Please check my website and tell me if these look like the "boils" your rat has.

QUESTION: I dont know if they has pus in them cause they never bust or anything but they are warm when you touch them and the do look like tumors in the picher on that website.

They are not boils.  They are called mammary tumors, just like what you saw and read about on my site.  They need removed and can be no matter how big they get. Do you have a good vet, usually an exotic vet is what you need?  I can give you some names if you let me know your location.
