Pet Rat with mammory tumor

QUESTION: Hi Sandra,

My son has pet rat that was just diagnosed with a mammary tumor. Our vet quoted us $357.00 to remove it. We love her, but we are not able to pay that much. Do you know any exotic veterinarians that might do the surgery for less in Colorado?

ANSWER: There are about 13 certified or general DVMs with a special interestin exotics which means in the state.  Where are you located?

Thats a bit steep for this type of surgery. Wonder what it all entails?  A few days staying over night or what, because that is pretty steep.  Is this vet an exotics vet or just a general vet that sees exotics?  Sometimes a specialty group that is located in an ER clinic are expensive and I would expect a quote that high but.....

well anyhow, please let me know your city and I will give you some names!
