My rat.

Question
I got my rat yesterday. I got him from a previous owner who could not take care of him anymore. I have held him several times, and he has never peed or pooped on or around me. Today he was sitting on my lap and just peed... on my pants... I did not notice it until he moved a few moments later, so it had a short time to soak in and get on my legs. Could this be pontentially harmful to my health?

Answer

No,it cannot hurt you a bit. There is nothing that rats carry that can hurt you and urinating on you will not hurt you in the least.  Urine is sterile remember?

Please read my website, sandyscrittercity.com so you lose any fear you may have about this rat and this way you wont worry about having close contact with him.

Male rats urinate to mark their territory.  rats in the wild also leave urine trails when they travel in the dark underground tunnels so that they can find their way back to the nest by picking up their own urine scent.

This rat is cleaner than a pet dog or cat.  Trust me.
