My Sweet Minge...
I have 4 female Rats. One of the 2 oldest..Mingie has instantly fallen ill. She was running around as happy as she can be. Let me mind you that she is a springy little furr ball of action! Shes always on the move and storing lots of food and running amock.About 3 days ago i went to go take her out and she was lying in front of her little home with all four legs sprawled out to one side. I called her name and got no response and she always comes running to come play. When I went to go pick her up she was as limp as a rag doll, her eyes were incrusted with that red stuff and also her nose was covered in it, Every time she sneezed she stained a good portion of my white sheets. She has no response to food or water. Its like a coma like state almost. About a day ago she actaully started to wake up about 2 times a day for about an hour or less and wiggling around like a baby rat does when it cannot see. Then she started walking a little more stable with her hind legs supporting her. She seemed to have trouble gripping food and chewing or swallowing. We took her to the doctors before her walking had gotten better. They told me to put her down beucase she looked miserable..but i just could not. I should at least try to save my best friend right? They injected her for being dehydrated and gave me metacam,baytril, and doxy.just yesterday she was getting up and wnting to walk around everywere on the floor like she used to do. But then afterwards when she goes to lay back down she looks horrible and sleeps for a long time. I;ve tried to feed her baby foods and soy powder baby formula, as Debbie DuConnumn told me. She fates to no end on taking it. Although she is really really trying to eat her normal food, i think holding it and swallowing it is a bit hard for her right now. I would like to know if this sounds like imporovement after her STROKE or could i be getting fooled. Please help me. Every minute Counts for her!!!

How long has she been on metacam?
trash that stuff before it destroys her kidneys. She needs steroids.
