Bumblefoot

Question
My Rat Caesar had a swollen foot when I got him and they told me that he had arthritis. I took him to my vet anyway because it looked like it really bothered him. They told me that it was a joint infection and we put him on two weeks of antibiotics. His foot was getting better but still wasn't normal size. So we put him on another 2 weeks worth of meds and his leg looked amazing and he was an active and happy boy. Now, about 15 days later, out of the blue his foot is HUGE, bigger than before even. It looks just like the pictures on your website of Bumblefoot (no ulcers) - but not the common kind. I guess my main questions is how do I present this idea to my vet and have her take me seriously without sounding like I am telling her how to do her job?

Answer
Some vets will accept outside help and if she doesnt respect the fact you have taken it upon yourself to do research on your rats health, find another vet. I have seen this many times, watched vets misdiagnose this left and right, and have watched rats die from sepsis after the infection gets into the bone.  What type of antibiotics have been used for this?

Copy my info on bumblefoot, hand it to your vet and just see where it goes. I have Vets that back up my information so if need be you can also tell her that this info was also verfied by a Vet, too.
