Question
I have 2 conures in a cage. I keep having problems with flying insects ( they are slow moving, very small fly-like bugs). I have switched their food to pellets and use newspaper in the bottom of the cage and still have the bug problem. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Answer
Dear Nora,
thank you for your question.
Do you have any houseplants near the cage? Often, flys live in those, for example fungus gnats. You could also try sticky traps, many flies are attracted to the yellow kind. You just need to make sure the birds cannot reach them.
I don't think that the flies come from the food, the only bugs that are sometimes found in there are several types of moths.
I hope I was of some help to you
