Eclectus vs Goffin

Question
Hello Rev. Dr. S.August Abbott,

I am seriously considering getting a male Eclectus or a Goffin Cockatoo. I want to make sure I pick the right bird. From my research I've done so far these two seem pretty good. I am looking for a very social bird and that isn't loud. I would prefer a larger bird, I don't know why, maybe it's an aesthetic thing. Also, I'm afraid of the bird becoming aggressive after sexual maturation. I understand this is nearly a life long commitment and would rather not get a bird then have to give it away at some point, which I don't think I'd do anyways.

From what I've read both these birds are social. The Goffin seems more loving, the Eclectus seems more talkative.

I own my own business and plan on taking the bird with me to work, I'd also like to take it with me when I go places. So I want one that is comfortable with that. But I can't have one that will be too loud, I had a conure when I was a kid and WOO WEE that bird was loud! I can't have that again.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated. And any other bird you think would be good I'd be interested in as well.

Thanks

Mike

Answer
--  The Eclectus will probably be a better fit.  They love attention and loving touch, but don't tend to be overbearing and demanding.   'too's are also called "velcro birds".  Without nearly constant attention and touch they can become loud, nippy and problematic to say the least.

While ALL parrot species need daily interaction, daily touching and daily one on one focus, out of cage time and unconditional love,  probably the most patient and easy going would be the Eclectus.  Whether a male or female, you can't go wrong.  Unless you don't do your part of course.
