Question
Hi:
I have a red crown parrot and,it has like 35% of his feathers black.I saw pictures of red crown parrot and they have their feathers green.Do I need to get my bird more to the sunlight? Is there any vitamin or special fruit that make the feather pigment? Thank you.

Answer
No, no foods or vitamins give the bird the pigment. Does your amazon have yellow cheek feathers? Is the upper beak fully black or is it horn color? Is the cere black or flesh color? There are actually subspecies to the red-lored amazon, and yours is probably one of the less-common subspecies. A picture of your bird would help a lot in determining the subspecies.
