Question
my pet rat bailey has started to hold his head to one side,he shares his cage with our other rat sqeak could this be an ear infection or maybe an injury when they have been playing.

Answer
Hi there,
It could well be an ear infection or ear mites that are driving him mad with itch. Ear infections can be very serious and can lead to them becoming deaf and they may end up with a permanent head tilt which isn't good as it affects their quality of life. I would suggest to get bailey to the vets asap so that he can be diagnosed and treated. I don't think its likely to have been an injury as it seems that his balance is affected. Worst case scenario could be a tumour but its probably not that and its best to treat for the other things first and hopefully bailey will make a full recovery. Good luck and let me know what happens.
