Chinchilla droppings

Question
I just bought two 4 month old chinchillas.  They both seem healthy and alert
with lots of energy to bounce around their cage.  However, one of them seems
to have developed really loose droppings over the past two days and I am
concerned that she may have a health problem.  As I say, other than the loose
droppings, both Chins seem totally fine.  They are both being fed pelleted food,
but I know that they were previously on a different brand. Cheers for your help.

Answer
The best thing to do would be to vastly reduce the amount of pellets you are giving for the next few days then feed them unlimited amounts of hay. Chinchillas need a really high fibre diet and dont do well when their diet is changed too quickly. Are they getting anything else? If it doesnt clear up in a day or two you may need to make a vet appointment. Though my guess is that its the change in diet. Good luck
