Answer
I am sorry to learn that your pet passed away. It is very difficult when something you cannot control occurs. This is one of those time. She may have been late in delivering or had the baby just not come till it was way to late. There is really no way to tell. With no signs of pregnancy and eating, drinking, and acting as normal I believe that there was nothing you could have done.

You had all the things to make her life a great one and you did all the things needed to take care of her. If you decide to get another hamsters just keep an eye out for any of the following signs that signal something is not right:

-changes in eating
-not drinking water
-very inactive
-changes in body shape(may be pregnant)
-blood at anytime in the cage
-louder than normal squeaking signaling pain of some kind
