Answer
It's hard to tell what the baby is  without seeing it. It could be a baby rat or mouse according to its size. Whichever it is, I would get some thin (not thick, like junior baby food) baby food that you can find in supermarkets. Make sure the food is room temperature, not to hot or too cold. Once you open the bottle, you must refrigerate it and heat it up to around room temperature if you are going to reuse it. Get a clean unused medicine dropper from the drugstore, put some food in it and feed it to the baby. Make sure that you clean the eyedropper between meals so that no bacteria can get in. You can buy different types of baby food such as vegetable, meat, fruit, and other kinds. Mix it up. I would feed the baby every hour to two hours, or whenever he or she seems hungry day and night. Don't force feed the baby if he or she is not hungry. Do not give water until the baby is weaned and ready to drink on its own. Do not give cow's milk or any type of milk. When the baby is weaned, then you can feed it a regular rodent diet and give it water through a water bottle. A hamster cage is okay as long as the baby cannot get through the bars. A baby rat may not be able to, but a baby mouse can. If the baby can escape through the bars, then put it in a tank. A mouse should be in a tank for all its life because it will always be small enough to escape a hamster cage. A rat should be switched to a larger cage as it gets bigger. Let me know how Binky is doing.
