Hamsters and rats

Question
I got a new hamster and I also want a rat, would it be ok if they live in the same cage or should I keep the seperated?

Thanks, Michelle

Answer
Hi Michelle,
Hamsters and rats can never live together. In fact, the rat will kill the hamsters. Hamsters must live alone. Rats must have compainions, but only rat companions. If you also want a rat, you must get a big enough cage. Get at least two rats of the same sex that already live together.

They both should help you to take care of your pets.
