noise

QUESTION: I have two pet white mice that i bought today. I keep them in my room because
my dad thinks they are gross. So anyway, when i sleep i turn my fan on, its like
one of those big ones on the floor that are really loud, and i also turn my tv up
quite a bit. So i wanted to know if the noise is gonna hurt them or disturb them.

ANSWER: It's probably not the best thing for them, maybe when you sleep and watch t.v you could move the cage to another room (well out of sight from your dad!) It's not just the noise that can stress them it's also the vibrations coming from the fan and t.v.

As much as possible. Always rub your hands in the cage bedding before handling jumpy mice. Start small - put your hand in the cage and let them come up to investigate. Once they recognize your 'smell' you can handle them inside their cage. Build up to having them in your hand when you are watching t.v, on the computer, reading or on the phone. When they are more tame you can walk around with them on your shoulder.
