Question
My possibly pregnant mouse
My possibly pregnant m
Well I have 3 mice. We were told they are all girls but now im not so sure. The mouse that i've had for 5 months now is very large in the stomach area and looks like she swallowed a golf ball. Her stool is yellow and don't know if that is bad or not. I also heard that mice with worms also look pregnant. If she is pregnant how do you tell when she will give birth?

Answer
Dear Forrest,

She is very pregnant. She may only have a day or she may have a week left, depending on the number of babies.

Do any of the other mice have different looking a rear end than her? Male mice have a lumpy rear that is actually their testicles. If you have had another male in the cage for five months it's pretty amazing that you've gone 5 months with no babies.  If you do have a male, take him out now before the babies are born. Otherwise you will have another litter in three weeks.

Clean her cage right away and give her lots of nice nesting material. You will not want to change the nest for two weeks after the babies are born, so make it nice now. Give her some extra protein such as scrambled egg or cheese.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. There are a lot of questions and answers about pregnancy and mouse babies in my archives.
