Question
Hi, I used to have mice but my last one died at a year and a half or so. Im wanting new mice but i need to know if i can have two females in a 10 gallon tank. also im 15 and have two younger sisters of the age 10 and 8. I want to get them a rodent for Christmas but im having a hard time deciding on a hamster, gerbil,or mouse. which would you choose for them? i know mice are fragile so i have my doubts about mice.(besides i have had 8 mice at ones and it smells!)

Answer
First of all I apologize that it took so long to answer this, there was a recall on 2007 HP laptops and mine was one of them, so I was without it for a while. Two females in a ten gallon tank sounds perfect, make sure to get them lots of little toys and houses and a wheel and they'll feel like royalty. I think hamsters are the best for your two younger sisters, they don't smell as much as mice and they are very easy to tame and quite smart. Also, they don't need company since they're solitary creatures. I had a hamster named Snowy from age eight to about nine and I absolutely loved her. I don't have much experience with gerbils but they look really adorable so I guess you'll have to decide on the Gerbil choice but between mice and hamsters I would definitely suggest a hamster for your sisters. Make sure they want them though and that they will be responsible for these little lives, because not all kids that age are very responsible, I know I wasn't.
