Mouse not eating after losing friend

Question
My name is Julia and I came across your website while looking for advice about my pet mice. I had two female pet mice that are are about 2 years old. One was a feeder mouse and the other one is a "fancy mouse". Over the weekend my beloved feeder mouse passed away and now my fancy mouse has stopped eating. I'm very worried about her and wondered if you had any suggestions. I do not care how much work I have to do or money I have to spend, I would do anything to get her happy and healthy  again. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can provide.

Answer
Dear Julia,

Your little mouse is lonely and depressed. She is also in danger of illness and mites. The best answer may actually not be expensive at all. The best thing for her is probably to get a couple- best a triplet- of little girlfriends.

I can't guarantee she isn't sick. But she is undoubtably depressed and lonely.

When you put them together put a little dab of real vanilla on their rumps and put them in a clean cage including a bunch of toilet paper rolls and only one area to nest.

If you see anything in her condition worsen though, she should go to a good exotics or pocket pets vet. You might want to bring her in anyway just to make sure.

enjoy your new mice :)

Squeaks n giggles,
