Sick Egyptian Spiny Mice

Question
I have two boy Egyptian spiny mice. And I've noticed that one of them, the bigger one's eyes have begun to close up a bit and make it look like he's squinting. Also he's been shaking quite a bit. Now the other one is having the same symptoms. What should I do? Is there something that I should/can give them to make them better? Please reply ASAP!!!!!

Answer
Dear Sara,

When mice are getting old they do get shaky and hunch over but it's unlikely that this would happen to both at once even if they are older.

It sounds like your mice are sick and need to go to a vet.  You'll have to call around to find a vet who treats either small rodents or 'exotics.'

If a vet just isn't an option, and I understand that mice are often a low-budget pet, I do have  a home remedy for bacterial sickness.  It is explained in the following post:

Most importantly keep them warm and make sure they have lots of food and fresh water.  Best of luck to your mice.  I hope they are well soon.
