found deer mouse

Question
hey i few days ago i found a very small deer mouse out in the rode he was still alive but he seemed very tired because when i picked him up he was barely able to crawl. i have chosen to take him in see as i don't have another chiose that seems like a good one. his eyes are not open yet but he has fur and very distinctive coloring. i feed him as often as i can (about once every hour) but i cant take him to school with me so he spends a few hours with out food till lunch and then till after school (i go to a private school so i don't get out till 3:40 and not home till 4:00). i have been feeding him cow milk through a syringe and keep him in a big glass jar with very soft bedding, i also keep him over a lamp to help him stay warm (a day light light bulb, energy  saving). i let him play on my stomach to get some exsirsize and too help keep him warm. i want to know do you have any tips or pointers, corrections or just anything that might help?
thanx Franny
ps: sorry for the spelling mistakes I'm from South Africa but live in canada

Answer
Dear Franny,

Thank you so much for rescuing and taking such careful care of your little mouse foundling!

The best thing to feed baby mice with is kitten milk, sold as a powder and usually called KMR (kitten milk replacement).  Their mom nurses them every half hour around the clock but it is ok for you to do it every 2 hours.  Feed it drop by drop until it doesn't want any more, then gently rub its tummy with a Q-tip to aid it in excretion.  Make sure it is always very warm.  You're doing great!
